A bit about Me
When I was 8 years old I developed a rare bone condition that affects my left tibia and remains only partially diagnosed. Throughout my childhood and teenage years the symptoms had a significant impact and I was experiencing pain on a physical, emotional and mental level.
In my early twenties, my condition had seemingly stabilised. I gained independence, contentment and believed my life was beginning to truly take shape. The checkboxes for what I believed to be the “ideal” life were beginning to get ticked, one at a time.
But then, the knock on effect of my condition on my spine began to take hold. I experienced a complete loss of independence, pain on a whole new scale and new diagnoses of chronic pain and chronic fatigue syndrome followed. I felt trapped in a decade long cycle of set-backs, frustration and hopelessness, not knowing what to do or how to get myself out of it.
In 2016 came a turning point. I had the opportunity to participate in a pain management course and met a community full of inspirational people. I learnt so much about pain, neuroscience, and many new things about myself.
I remember telling myself, and many others, how much I wished I had access to this crucial information when I was younger, and the impact it could have had. The logic seemed so backwards to me … why was this the last solution offered to so many people living with chronic pain?
I began working with a coach and, combined with my new pain management techniques, my life began to change in massive, meaningful ways. I wanted as many people as possible to have access to this information so that they too could self-manage their pain. Combined with my lifelong interest in spirituality and self-development I understood this was the way forward and became an accredited coach through Mindful Talent.
In the last two years I have regained the power to be independent again in mind, body and soul. The pain is no longer controlling or dictating my life. I am now the one in control and I have discovered an authentic sense of freedom.
It took me a long time to realise that the “ideal” life modelled by our society is not the life for me, or indeed everyone. Through total acceptance of our circumstances we can create a peaceful, wonderful life that works for us through embracing our individuality and trusting in our intuition.
There are no right or wrong answers, nor a version of you that is the “correct” one. The peace that you are seeking is unique to you and you alone. Let’s work together to set you on your path to freedom.
